Job summary

Columbia Country Club is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to supervise swimmers, administer basic first aid, and maintain pool facilities. The role involves enforcing rules, assisting in lessons, and supporting pool maintenance under the department manager.

Qualified candidates will have at least two years of lifeguarding experience, CPR and First Aid certifications, and Water Safety/Instructor certifications. Regular attendance and adherence to health codes are expected.

Responsibilities

• Supervises swimmers at all times to ensure safety.
• Administers first aid for minor injuries.
• Maintains cleanliness of changing rooms, bathrooms and showers.
• Organizes clinics and private swimming lessons for members as directed by department manager.
• Enforces pool rules and conducts pool maintenance, including checking chemicals and vacuuming the pool.
• Checks first aid supplies and reports needed items to management.
• Organizes and monitors pool games; suggests pool-side activities.
• Skims debris from the surface to prepare the pool for daily use.
• Cleans up and organizes pool area at the end of the day.
• Maintains required records for the department manager.

Key Responsibilities of the Lifeguard:

Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.

Administers first aid to minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises of swimmers.

Maintains amenities in and cleanliness of changing rooms, bathrooms and showers.

Assists in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members as directed by department manager.

Enforces the rules of conduct.

Performs pool maintenance to include checking chemicals and pool vacuuming.

Checks the first aid supplies and reports needed items to management in a timely fashion.

Organizes and monitors pool games at all times; suggests pool-side games.

Skims bugs and other debris from surface to prepare pool for daily use, empties automatic skimmer.

Cleans up and organizes pool area at the end of the day.

Maintains all necessary records determined by the department manager.

Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

Minimum Qualifications for the Lifeguard:

• Minimum of two(2) years of lifeguarding experience.
• CPR, First Aid Certification, various Water Safety/Instructor Certifications required.

Other Qualifications:

Regular and reliable attendance.

Knowledge of accepted sanitation standards and applicable health codes.
