Job summary

Pirates Bay Waterpark in Baytown, TX seeks seasonal lifeguards to oversee guest safety and training. Trainees complete the National Pool and Waterpark Lifeguard Training Program and must demonstrate 200-yard swims and CPR/First Aid skills.

Responsibilities include enforcing rules, supervising guests, and assisting leadership to ensure smooth operation while maintaining equipment and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Ability to swim and perform water rescues.
• Must be able to swim 200 yards, tread water 2 minutes, and retrieve a brick from the pool.

Responsibilities

• Enforce all rules and regulations.
• Provide supervision to prevent accidents.
• Scan assigned areas and stay on duty with qualified relief.
• Assist aquatic leadership to operate facilities smoothly.
• Care for issued equipment and perform maintenance as needed.
• Complete mandatory trainings including 4 hours/month of in-service training.

• Report needed repairs to supervisor or manager.
• Deliver friendly, safe, and engaging guest experiences.
• Open/close and operate facilities as directed by management.
• Support in equipment cleaning and general housekeeping.

Position Summary

Whether overseeing the wave pool or assisting guests on slides, you’re on the frontline of guest safety. Make friends and have fun all summer long while learning skills that will stick with you over a lifetime. Lifeguard trainees complete our National Pool and Waterpark Lifeguard Training Program. Show your swimming skills, including a 200‑yard swim, CPR, and First‑Aid skills. Enjoy awesome benefits while earning money all summer long! Applicants must be able to swim 200 yards using the front crawl or breast stroke, recover a 10 lb. brick from a depth of 10 feet, and tread water for 2 minutes with hands out of the water.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Enforce all rules and regulations.
• Provide needed supervision to prevent accidents.
• Scan assigned areas and never leave unless qualified relief is present.
• Assist aquatic leadership to ensure smooth operation of the facilities.
• Responsible for the care and maintenance of issued equipment.
• Participate in in‑service training programs for safety and customer service at all water park facilities.
• Keep the water park areas clear of dangerous objects and substances.
• Immediately report needed repairs to the aquatics/park services supervisor and or manager.
• Present a favorable, professional public image.
• Perform related duties as assigned by aquatics supervisor and or manager. Duties may include, but are not limited to, general housekeeping, general maintenance, inspection of equipment and aquatic features within the park.
• Assist in opening, closing, and operating of the facility as directed by management.
• Complete all required company trainings and compliance courses as assigned, including but not limited to completion of mandatory 4 hours per month of In‑service as per E&A lifeguard certificate qualification.
• Assist in maintaining pools by brushing, skimming, vacuuming, scrubbing, etc. as required.
• Adheres to company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
• Ensuring that guests receive outstanding customer service by providing a friendly, fun, safe environment.
• Develop and maintain a harmonious working relationship with all other departments.
• Follow and enforce all sanitation procedures including safety guidelines and OSHA requirements.
• Enforce Pirates Bay Waterpark, Ellis & Associates and P 2:3 safety standards.
• Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Recognize and respond effectively to all emergency situations.
• Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally in the aquatics and risk management field.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Ability to communicate effectively, understand and follow verbal directives and written directions.
• Must be able to swim, perform water activities and rescues.
• Must be able to swim 50 yards (front crawl or breaststroke), swim under water for 10 feet, and retrieve a 10-pound brick from the bottom of a pool (shallow water).
• Must be able to swim 200 yards (front crawl or breaststroke), tread water for 2 minutes with hands out of the water and retrieve a 10-pound brick from the deepest part of the pool (deep water).
• Current Ellis & Associates (or equivalent) lifeguard certification preferred or able to attain certification upon hire.
• Recognizes an emergency and takes appropriate action.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Completing JES Lifeguard program is a condition of employment.
