Job summary

Goldfish Swim School in Astoria, Oregon is seeking a vigilant Lifeguard to supervise pool activities and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for families.

As a Lifeguard, you’ll stay alert, communicate clearly, and respond to emergencies with calm professionalism while enforcing facility rules. This is a part-time, non-exempt role with evening and weekend shifts.

Certification is required, and you’ll help ensure every swimmer is safe and every shift is covered.

Qualifications

• Must obtain Lifeguard certification through Goldfish Swim School, if not certified already.
• 6 months lifeguard experience at an aquatic facility or camp preferred.
• Must be available for evening and weekend shifts.
• Regular exposure to heat, humidity, and chlorine; noise level is moderate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of all swimmers and respond to emergencies.
• Provide emergency care and first aid until EMS arrives.
• Communicate facility rules to members and guests.
• Inform management of incidents accurately and promptly.
• Keep the facility clean, safe, and organized throughout each shift.
• Contribute to delivering a Golden Experience for families.

Job Title: Lifeguard

Reports to: Deck Supervisor

FLSA Status: Part time, Non-Exempt

Summary: We’re looking for an alert, dependable, and safety-first team member to join us as a Lifeguard. This role is the backbone of what we do. You'll be poolside every shift, keeping a watchful eye over our swimmers, and creating a safe environment where kids and families feel confident in the water. If you take safety seriously, show up ready to lead by example, and genuinely care about the people around you, this role is for you!

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain constant, focused surveillance of all patrons in the facility and respond immediately and appropriately to any emergency.
• Provide emergency care and first aid until EMS arrives, and ensure EMS is contacted through the most appropriate means.
• Communicate facility rules to members and guests fairly, consistently, and with a welcoming attitude.
• Inform management of any incidents accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility throughout every shift.
• Help drive our mission and ensure everyone has a Golden Experience while in the building.
