Lifecycle Engineer

Job Category: Engineering

Military Sealift Command (MSC) operates ships for the Armed Forces and other agencies. These ships are operated by US Coast Guard (USCG) licensed Merchant Mariners and maintained to commercial standards. Ships are either Government Owned-Government Operated (GOGO) or Government Owned-Contractor Operated (GOCO). MSC follows a commercial model for their policy system using a Quality Management System (QMS) ashore and a Safety Management System (SMS) afloat, adhering to IMO, ABS, and USCG regulations.

Responsibilities
  1. Support engineering lifecycle management and planning for MSC ships, including developing long-range (5-30 year) maintenance, operation, repair, and support plans.
  2. Provide on-site ship availability program management (PM) and technical support to MSC vessels.
  3. Collaborate with the Availability Management Team (AMT) on specific work items.
  4. Observe, verify, and report on engineering requirements related to vessel maintenance, repair, and modifications, providing reports and recommendations to the Principal Port Engineer (PPE).
  5. Deliver technical services in naval architecture, electrical, mechanical, and marine engineering, supporting vessels and upcoming availabilities with solutions and upgrades.
Place of Performance
  • Work may be performed from the contractor’s facility or remotely when supporting the Life Cycle Management Division or PPE.
  • For ship availability support, work will be at the shipyard or contractor’s facility.

Secret clearance is preferred.

Compensation

The salary range is $57,500 - $117,900, based on factors like location, experience, skills, and education. We offer comprehensive benefits including healthcare, wellness, retirement, family support, education, and time off. Details can be found here.
