Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior Cost Leader in Dearborn to champion cost culture and lead bottom-up cost status by commodity. You will partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, and Cost Estimating to drive cost efficiencies across engine/transmission/motor/battery modules and conduct What-If studies for strategic decisions.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in automotive product development, a BS degree, and advanced certifications. U.S.

Qualifications

• BS degree or equivalent; 7+ years in automotive product development (OEM/Tier 1).
• Experience managing design/sourcing/cost analysis of engines, transmissions, motors, batteries, or modules.
• Systems Engineering Certification, MS or MBA may be advantageous.
• Authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Champion cost culture across the organization and drive cost-improvement initiatives.
• Leverage multiple data sources to identify cost-efficiency opportunities.
• Prepare for Cost Loop workshops by researching opportunities from prior ideas and benchmarking.
• Lead Cost Loop workshops to build bottom-up cost status by commodity per control model.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, and Cost Estimating to disposition material cost opportunities.
• Develop ad-hoc What-If Cost Studies for strategic and tactical decisions.
• Represent Material Cost at key program forums (PST, CPE DF, Finance PAT).
• Coordinate with Global Total Cost teams (Benchmarking, Cost Attack, Vendor Tooling, Cost Estimating, Material Cost Data Architecture, Indirect Engineering).

• Champion a strong Cost Culture across the organization, anchored in the three rules of efficient cost management: Don't Over Content, Don't Over Design, and Don't Overpay
• Leverage multiple data sources to identify and investigate cost-efficiency opportunities
• Prepare for Cost Loop workshops by researching cost opportunities from previously rejected ideas, competitive benchmarking, internal vehicle data, and cost estimates
• Lead Cost Loop workshops to build a bottom-up cost status by commodity for each control model
• Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, and Cost Estimating to disposition material cost opportunities
• Develop ad-hoc What-If Cost Studies to inform strategic and tactical decision-making
• Represent the Material Cost Attribute at key program forums, including PST, CPE DF, and Finance PAT
• Collaborate with Global Total Cost skill teams, including Benchmarking & Cost Attack, Global Vendor Tooling, Global Cost Estimating, Material Cost Data Architecture, and Indirect Engineering

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or equivalent degree
• 7+ years of experience in automotive product development (OEM, Tier 1 supplier, etc.)
• Prior experience managing the design, sourcing, or cost analysis of at least one of the following commodities: internal combustion engines, automatic & hybrid transmissions, electric motors, high voltage batteries, or electronic modules
• Systems Engineering certification, Master of Science (MS), or Master of Business Administration (MBA) may be advantageous
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Visa sponsorship is not available
