Job summary

Park County School District 6 is hiring a Life Skills Paraeducator at Cody High School. The role supports students with significant disabilities in instructional activities and personal care tasks, under the supervision of the Building Principal.

The position requires assisting with reading, math, daily living skills, and behavior development, while maintaining records and contributing to a safe classroom environment.

Qualifications

• SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
• ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and events; gather data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment.

Responsibilities

• Administers, under supervision, assistance for students with significant cognitive and/or physical needs.
• Assists students with disabilities under the teacher's direction to participate in activities.
• Attends meetings for skill development and information on student needs.
• Collaborates with teachers and staff to provide assistance to students.
• Confers with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP goals.
• Instructs students one-on-one or in small groups toward IEP goals.
• Maintains instructional materials and student files for reliability of information.
• Modifies materials and accommodations per IEP to support progress.
• Monitors students to ensure safe learning environments.
• Records observations and incidents for documentation to appropriate personnel.
• Responds to inquiries from staff with critical information on student progress.
