Job summary

Valley Teen Ranch is seeking a Life Skills Coach I to support program participants in developing independent living skills within a structured housing environment. You will proactively identify, document, and address incidents while ensuring resident safety and continuity of care.

The role focuses on weekend welfare checks, youth guidance, and thorough documentation, with emphasis on trauma-informed, youth-centered approaches and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Background check including DOJ/FBI and Child Abuse Index required; no child abuse record or allegations.
• Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular welfare and safety checks during weekend shifts.
• Identify and respond to minor and major incidents; document objectively.
• Complete timely incident reports per agency standards; escalate urgent concerns as needed.
• Communicate incidents and follow-up needs to weekday staff during shift handoffs.
• Support residents in practicing daily living skills, budgeting, hygiene, meal planning, and time management using trauma-informed approaches.
• Model healthy boundaries and pro-social decision-making; maintain a safe, clean living environment.
• Participate in trainings, team meetings, and supervision as required.
