Generations Home Care in Searchlight, NV is seeking a Life Skills Coach to support Veterans through the Independence Program. The role provides about 50 hours per month, roughly 2–3 days per week, with mileage reimbursement and training provided.

You will help Veterans with brain injuries, PTSD, and other challenges to participate in the community, improve quality of life, and develop meaningful activities, under supervision of Neuro Case Management.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or PTSD is a plus.
• Understanding of military culture or veteran background preferred.
• Must have insured vehicle and be willing to transport (mileage reimbursed).
• Patient, calm and male candidate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide functional supports to help Veterans achieve goals per their Care Plan.
• Identify barriers or triggers to promote continued independence.
• Educate Veterans on problem-solving and decision-making strategies.
• Offer positive support and advocate for the Veteran Warrior.
• Assist with choices and informed life decisions.

• Serve as a role model and maintain communication with Veterans, families, and referrals.

Life Skills Coach for Wounded Veterans

The Life Skills Coach (LSC) is an essential part of the Independence Program (IP) team reporting directly to Generations Home Care LLC, as well as the Independence Program Case Manager. Each Veteran Warrior is typically authorized for between 6-12 hours per week with their Life Skills Coach. More than one Veteran Warrior may be assigned to a Life Skills Coach if availability allows for adequate scheduling for the Veterans and their LSC. The male warrior we are hiring for needs a LSC to provide 50 hours per month (scheduling approximately 2-3 days per week) of support services. Ideal candidate must have the following: insured vehicle and be willing to transport (mileage reimbursed), be patient, calm and male. We provide training, supervision by Neuro Case Management and offer on-going professional enhancement educational webinars.

This is a community-based position working with Veterans who have brain injuries, PTSD, neurological disabilities and other cognitive or physical challenges. While providing functional support to a Veteran Warrior, the LSC is responsible for providing opportunities for increased participation in community activities, increased social capital, improved quality of life and development of meaningful and purposeful activities. This is a PRN opportunity and hourly pay is $20.00 with mileage reimbursement. This position will never become a full-time position.

Job Responsibilities

• Based on the established goals of an individualized Care Plan provides Veteran Warriors functional supports to achieve set goals.
• Identifies barriers, triggers, or challenges in functional status in order to develop proactive interventions that promote continued independence.
• Educates Veteran Warriors on how to develop necessary problem-solving skills and strategies solution driven role.
• Provides positive support and be an advocate for the Veteran Warrior.
• Provides assistance and guidance with identifying choices and making informed decisions that involve their activities and life.
• Assists Veteran Warrior with improving community living and integration skills in a variety of settings such as shopping, church attendance, sporting events, recreation, club participation, classroom support, volunteer/employment support, etc.
• Serves as a role model/mentor and maintains good communication/relationships with the Veteran Warrior, their families and referral sources.

Qualifications

• Experience working with an individual professionally and/or a loved-one with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder a Plus!
• Understanding of military culture or Veteran - preferred.
• Retired individual
• Behavioral health experience preferred.
• Mentoring, coaching or training experience.
• Outstanding organizational skills.
• Proven experience working in a collaborative environment.
• Caring, compassionate and have a high level of patience.
