Ice Miller LLP seeks a highly motivated Intellectual Property Associate with 2+ years in life sciences patenting. The role focuses on preparing and prosecuting U.S. and international applications for biotech clients, including startups and Fortune 50 companies, with emphasis on biologics and large-molecule technologies.

The ideal candidate holds an advanced degree in biological sciences (Ph.D. preferred), strong analytical and writing skills, and registration to practice before the USPTO.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience as a patent attorney in biotechnology.
• Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biological sciences.
• Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications relating to biologics or other large-molecule technologies.
• Experience in searches and analyses for freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape assessments.
• Registration to practice before the USPTO in good standing.
• Admission to at least one State bar.
• Prior law firm experience preferred.
• Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skills.

Ice Miller LLP is seeking a highly motivated Intellectual Property Associate with at least 2 years of experience in life sciences patenting. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with an advanced degree and strong background in biological sciences to work on sophisticated patent matters for clients ranging from Fortune 50 to start‑up innovative companies.

This position is open to candidates in any Ice Miller office, preferably in Philadelphia.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, file and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the life sciences sector.
• Conduct freedom‑to‑operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape searches and analyses.
• Advise clients on patent issues throughout the product lifecycle, including strategic consultation, portfolio management and patent enforcement.
