Job summary

NBBJ is seeking a highly experienced Lab Planner in Boston to lead laboratory programming, planning, and design for Life Sciences clients, including researchers and external stakeholders.

The role requires strong communication, coordination with project teams, and the ability to translate scientific needs into integrated lab spaces and equipment layouts. This position is based in the United States and focuses on delivering innovative, life-enhancing spaces.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of planning experience on complex facilities.
• Track record of producing accurate drawings and project deliverables on time.
• Excellent written, verbal and graphic communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to work as part of a team and under pressure.
• Proactive and independent approach to work and ownership of assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Be one of the main client liaisons to determine laboratory brief and design criteria.
• Develop an integrated laboratory concept including environmental and equipment driven criteria.
• Schedule planning and technical requirements aligning with the facility's design, security, safety, and building concepts.
• Advocate for laboratory design within the project team and firm.
• Develop and coordinate room design criteria and distribute to the project team.
• Develop and integrate laboratory equipment lists and casework layouts for projects.
