Job summary

Canadian Breaks Consulting LLC seeks a Life Safety Systems Superintendent – Consultant to lead the LSS scope on multi-building hi-tech projects in Childress, TX. You will supervise low voltage teams, oversee scheduling, QA/QC, RFIs, and safety compliance onsite.

You will coordinate with project leadership, architects, and subcontractors to ensure on-time delivery and quality installations of fire alarm, mass notification, detection, and related life safety systems.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of low voltage electrical construction experience, including life safety.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • OSHA 30 certification; able to work onsite in Childress, TX and US work eligibility.

About the Role
Introduction

The Life Safety Systems (LSS) Superintendent works within the construction department and manages the life safety scope from start to finish, reporting to the Electrical Project Superintendent and Electrical Construction Manager. This role supervises multiple low voltage electrical subcontractors performing extensive fast-tracked scope across multiple large hi-tech buildings, ensuring supervision of the project team while managing scheduling, quality, RFIs, and the QA/QC program, and providing a safe work environment. The LSS Superintendent is the field authority on fire alarm, mass notification, detection, and related life safety installations. This position is fully onsite at the project in Childress, TX.

Qualifications
Required
  • 5+ years of low voltage electrical construction experience, including life safety systems scopes.
  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management, or an equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience.
  • OSHA 30 certification. Able to work fully onsite in Childress, TX, ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs, work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment, access all areas and levels of an active construction site, pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen, and work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred
  • Extensive experience on large industrial and hi-tech fabrication projects.
  • Fire alarm, mass notification, detection, and suppression interface field experience, including installation oversight and acceptance testing support.
  • Familiarity with low voltage distribution, UPS equipment, electrical installations on large mechanical and process equipment, and installations in cleanroom environments.
  • Education background in materials and methods of low voltage electrical construction.
  • Experience coordinating fast-tracked scope across multiple concurrent buildings on one program.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, and field practices.
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and Teams), and have a strong understanding of working within a computer network.
  • Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
  • Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory and techniques.
  • Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method. Familiar with Construction Specifications Institutes (CSI) MasterFormat.
  • Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while frequently interrupted by phone calls and questions on work in progress.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work closely with variety of trade and craft people in a field work situation. Patience and professionalism are essential.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to collaborate with various personnel within and across departments and at all levels of leadership.
  • Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended hours or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities with other superintendents, low voltage electrical subcontractors, and other discipline subcontractors.
  • Supervise multiple subcontractors and craft employees.
  • Maintain and adjust the project schedule daily.
  • Manage RFIs (requests for information) and submittal materials for review with the client and architect.
  • Manage and abide by all safety protocols, and provide a safe work environment for the project team.
  • Provide resolution to design and constructability issues.
  • Respond to client requests and issues and develop resolutions to problems using technical expertise.
  • Interpret and implement proper installations in compliance with all local authority permitting codes and site specifications.
  • Provide supporting information regarding field conditions and scope for cost estimates.
  • Facilitate contractor activity, ensuring performance by all contractual agreements.
  • Assist with managing project staffing.
  • Work closely with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Support life safety system startup, acceptance testing and commissioning activities, including readiness reviews and turnover documentation.
  • Provide status, risk, and mitigation updates to CBC leadership and the client.
