Job summary

Winged Keel Group is seeking a Life Insurance Underwriting Associate to coordinate and manage underwriting and implementation, providing efficient, proactive service to clients and negotiating with life insurance companies.

You will conduct client interviews, schedule exams, review medical records, and work closely with design analysts and case managers to ensure timely policy issuance while maintaining high professional standards.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' experience in the life insurance industry preferred
• Knowledge of broker-dealer and licensing preferred
• Ability to read Attending Physician Statements (APS)

Responsibilities

• General underwriting case management
• Provide regular case status updates to CRMs and PMs
• Ensure status updates are emailed to clients and advisors
• Confirm agent is contracted, licensed, and appointed
• Conduct 15-30 minute telephone interviews with clients or advisors
• Schedule medical exams, send reminders and follow up
• Coordinate ordering of APS records and review records
• Negotiate with carrier underwriters for best risk classification
• Understand design impact of final offers
• Complete and review life insurance application paperwork
• Work with company case managers to process policies
• Prepare and send Portfolio Summaries after coverage placed inforce
• Breakdown underwriting files and inform Client Services of obligations
