Job summary

LiveWell Homecare Agency is seeking a flight nurse to provide care for Life Flight operations, following Act 37 standards. The role includes patient care from initial contact through transfer, with thorough EMR documentation in a high-stakes aviation environment.

The position requires at least three years of critical care nursing, with CCRN/CEN/CFRN/CTRN certifications (CFRN within one year). Part-time shifts include weekends/holidays and may involve travel.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of critical care nursing experience.
• CCRNs, CFRN, CFRN, or CTRN certification required on hire; CFRN within one year.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and work in environments with noise, fumes, vibration, and temperature extremes.
• Must be able to work in aircraft and hangar environments with exposure to hazards.
• Part-time role with rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Accepting duty assignments at various program sites as needed to ensure continuity of care.
• Delivering patient care from initial contact through transfer to medical facilities.
• Maintaining thorough documentation in the Electronic Medical Record.
• Practicing within the scope defined by state, BEMS (Act 37), and organizational policies, while maintaining competency through ongoing training.
• Communicating educational needs, participating in continuing education, and staying knowledgeable about equipment and supplies.
• Ensuring the medical interior of aircraft and ground ambulances is well-maintained and stocked.
• Serving as a flight crew member, assisting pilots, participating in briefings and debriefings, and completing required documentation.
• Supporting specialty team transports such as ECMO and NICU, and adhering to safety standards during all flight phases.
• Mentoring, precepting new staff, and contributing to safety and performance evaluations.
• Troubleshooting equipment issues and ensuring a safe environment in aircraft and hangar settings.
