Charter Senior Living of Newport News is seeking a Life Enrichment / Programming Director to plan, implement, and oversee engaging activities and community programming for residents. The role emphasizes creativity, compassion, and leadership to foster purpose, connection, and wellbeing among seniors in a vibrant community.

The ideal candidate has experience in activities, recreation, or senior living leadership, with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and flexibility to work

Qualifikationen

• Experience in activities, recreation, life enrichment, senior living, hospitality, or event leadership.
• Assisted living or memory care experience strongly preferred.
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Flexible availability including weekends and holidays as needed.

Aufgaben

• Plan, coordinate, and lead daily resident activities and events
• Develop engaging social, recreational, educational, spiritual, and therapeutic programming
• Oversee entertainment, outings, transportation coordination, and special events
• Encourage resident participation and meaningful engagement
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, and team members
• Supervise and support Life Enrichment staff and volunteers
• Maintain activity calendars, schedules, and required documentation
• Manage programming budgets, supplies, and event planning
• Collaborate with leadership teams to support resident satisfaction and occupancy goals
• Promote community events and programming to residents, families, and the public
• Support a positive, welcoming, and engaging community environment
• On-site visits at least every 45 days for completion of individualized assessments
• Be available on call as required as per regulatory standard or have qualified alternate delegating nurse available on call
• Provide appropriate delegation of nursing tasks.

Position Summary

The Life Enrichment / Programming Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing engaging social, recreational, educational, spiritual, and therapeutic programming for residents within the community.

This leadership role creates meaningful opportunities that support resident independence, purpose, social connection, and overall wellbeing while helping foster a positive and vibrant community culture.

The Programming Director also collaborates with community leadership to support resident satisfaction, occupancy growth, family engagement, and community outreach initiatives through innovative and engaging programming.

The ideal candidate is creative, organized, energetic, compassionate, and passionate about serving seniors.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and lead daily resident activities and events

• Develop engaging social, recreational, educational, spiritual, and therapeutic programming

• Oversee entertainment, outings, transportation coordination, and special events

Qualifications

• Previous activities, recreation, life enrichment, senior living, hospitality, or event leadership experience preferred

• Assisted living or memory care experience strongly preferred

• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred

• Creative, energetic, and outgoing personality

• Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

• Compassionate and resident-focused attitude

• Flexible availability including weekends and holidays as needed

• Valid driver’s license preferred
