Job description

Do you have a passion for enriching the lives of older adults and providing meaningful activities for them to enjoy? Clark Retirement Community is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Life Enrichment Manager. The opportunity is within our skilled nursing department at the Franklin Campus. The Life Enrichment Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the life enrichment programs. This includes developing and implementing activities that enhance the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of residents. The ideal candidate will have experience working with memory care residents and be knowledgeable about dementia. The candidate must be a certified activity director and/or be willing to obtain certification within six months of hire for our skilled nursing department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development & Implementation:
    • Design, plan, and implement a variety of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of residents.
    • Develop individualized enrichment plans based on residents’ preferences, care needs, and cognitive levels.
    • Organize special events, holiday celebrations, and outings to provide a well-rounded experience for residents.
  2. Team Leadership & Supervision:
    • Supervise and train a team of life enrichment staff and volunteers.
    • Ensure team members are delivering high-quality programming that meets residents' needs and encourages participation.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback, support, and professional development to team members.
  3. Collaboration & Care Plan Integration:
    • Work closely with nursing, therapy, social work, and other departments to integrate life enrichment activities into each resident’s care plan.
    • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings to provide input on how enrichment activities can support therapeutic goals.
    • Monitor residents' responses to activities and adjust programs as needed to ensure maximum benefit.
  4. Resident Engagement & Support:
    • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages residents to engage in activities and form connections with others.
    • Provide one-on-one or small group sessions for residents with specific needs, including those with dementia or physical limitations.
    • Offer emotional and social support to residents, promoting a sense of belonging and community.
  5. Assessment & Documentation:
    • Assess residents’ needs, preferences, and abilities through interviews, surveys, and observations.
    • Maintain accurate records of residents’ participation and progress in life enrichment activities.
    • Prepare reports on activity outcomes, including tracking resident engagement and satisfaction.
    • Complete the appropriate sections of the MDS in a timely manner, in accordance with SNF regulations.
  6. Compliance & Budget Management:
    • Ensure that all life enrichment activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Manage the life enrichment budget, ensuring activities are cost-effective and within budget limits.
    • Order supplies and materials needed for programs and ensure resources are used efficiently.
  7. Quality Improvement:
    • Continuously evaluate and improve life enrichment programs to enhance their effectiveness and relevance to residents’ needs.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, trends, and new activity ideas to keep programs innovative and engaging.
