Job summary

Alden Village in Bloomingdale, IL is seeking an Activity Director to lead the Activities Department, ensuring the program aligns with the facility’s mission, policies, and regulations. The role focuses on delivering high-quality life experiences for residents with diverse psychosocial and medical needs and requires strong leadership and community engagement.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Minimum three years in group and individual activity programming.
• Must read, write and speak English.
• Experience marketing the Activity Program to community and professionals.
• Knowledgeable activity programming with effective communication of disease processes.
• Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred; CTRS/OTR/LCSW/LSW options or plan to complete course within 180 days.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work with diverse populations in long- or short-term care.
• Ability to guide staff in therapeutic approaches for dementia/behavior.
• Ability to make independent decisions; empathy, compassion, enthusiasm, humor.
• Flexibility regarding work hours.

Responsibilities

• Establish and monitor facility and program goals through a team approach.
• Develop and maintain a therapeutic, person-centered activity program.
• Maintain Activity Policies and Procedures and comply with state/federal regulations.
• Conduct and oversee assessments and care planning initiatives.
• Complete required documentation for residents.
• Create and implement communication needs of residents (language services, boards, etc.).
• Develop resident activity orientation and understand residents’ backgrounds for person-centered planning.
• Develop and maintain a volunteer program involving family and residents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
