Job summary

HarborChase of Palm Coast is seeking a PRN Activities Assistant to support planning, coordinating, and running community activities for residents in a Florida assisted living setting. The role involves encouraging participation, assisting with calendars and newsletters, and helping with supplies for regular activities.

The position may require driving residents to activities as needed and ensuring safety and resident rights are observed, with potential off-site outings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Background in art, music, drama, or occupational therapy preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, and staff.
• 1 year experience in social or recreational programs in a licensed health care setting preferred.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s Dementia preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DLE with planning, coordinating and running community activities.
• Assist with planning of monthly activities calendar and newsletter.
• Encourage residents to participate and support independence.
• Help with ordering supplies and equipment for activities.
• May attend off-site outings and ensure safe, meaningful trips for residents.
• Maintain activity participation tracking and support the Parallel Programming schedule.
• Ensure privacy rights are observed when interacting with residents and families.
• May be required to transport residents to activities if needed.

Essential Functions:

This is a PRN position - Tuesday and Wednesday 9am - 5pm

• Assist the DLE with planning, coordinating and running all community activities
• Assists with the planning of the monthly activities calendar and monthly newsletter (if necessary)
• Encourages residents to participate in community activities, assisting them to attend, while supporting the resident’s independence
• Help with ordering supplies and equipment for regular activities
• May be required to attend outings off-site and help to keep track of residents ensuring a meaningful and safe trip for all
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the DLE
• Help maintain the Activity Participation Tracking Chart, if applicable
• Assists in the success of the community Parallel Programming schedule
• When interacting with residents and/or family members, is mindful of the Resident’s Rights to Privacy
• May be required to safely drive the residents to and from the activities when needed
• The ability to work in a safe and alert manner
• The ability to take ownership for associate’s safety and the safety of the residents
• Must disclose any medication that might impair associate’s ability to perform the job safely or competently.

Requirements
