Job summary

HarborChase is seeking a dedicated activities assistant to support planning and executing community activities for residents. You will help maintain calendars and newsletters, encourage participation, and assist with supplies and outings as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma, with preference for experience in recreational programs in licensed health care settings and knowledge of dementia care. This is a hands-on, on-site position focused on enriching residents' daily lives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Background in art, music, drama, or occupational therapy preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, residents, families, and external contacts.
• One year experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting preferred.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s Dementia preferred.

Responsibilities

• Encourage residents to participate in activities and support independence.
• Help with ordering supplies and equipment for regular activities.
• May attend outings off-site and help ensure safety for residents on trips.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the DLE.
• Maintain the Activity Participation Tracking Chart, if applicable.
• Support the community Parallel Programming schedule.
• Respect residents' privacy and confidentiality.

Essential Functions:

• Assist the DLE with planning, coordinating and running all community activities
• Assists with the planning of the monthly activities calendar and monthly newsletter (if necessary)
• Encourages residents to participate in community activities, assisting them to attend, while supporting the resident’s independence
• Help with ordering supplies and equipment for regular activities
• May be required to attend outings off-site and help to keep track of residents ensuring a meaningful and safe trip for all
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the DLE
• Help maintain the Activity Participation Tracking Chart, if applicable
• Assists in the success of the community Parallel Programming schedule
• When interacting with residents and/or family members, is mindful of the Resident’s Rights to Privacy
• May be required to safely drive the residents to and from the activities when needed
• The ability to work in a safe and alert manner
• The ability to take ownership for associate’s safety and the safety of the residents
• Must disclose any medication that might impair associate’s ability to perform the job safely or competently.

Non-Essential Functions:
