Position: Life Enrichment Assistant in Personal Care

Plans, leads, and assists in recreational activities, including large and small groups, special events, and one-to-one visits. Serves as an active participant in the household model for Personal Care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Possesses good verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
  2. Assists with planning and carrying out activities for residents in the Personal Care houses in collaboration with other household team members.
  3. Assists in charting resident activity in the house. Completes MDS/QR interviews and paperwork for new admissions, follow-up assessments, and progress notes, as directed by RNAC.
  4. Works with other Life Enrichment Assistants and household team to develop new programs and activities that may interest residents.
  5. Leads or assists in therapeutic recreational activities.
  6. Assists with serving meals as needed, including dining for residents unable to eat independently.
  7. Escorts residents in wheelchairs to and from activities, and occasionally escorts family members living in another household to visit residents.
  8. Relates well with residents, clients, family members, staff, and the community.
  9. Works alongside and directs volunteers assigned to the Life Enrichment department.
  10. Participates in performing household functions, viewing the care setting as the resident's home.
  11. Responds to resident call bells and alarms, supporting residents within their scope of practice.
  12. Participates in interdisciplinary care plan meetings for the assigned house, as needed.
  13. Participates in planning the monthly calendar.
  14. Knows all house programs to cover absences of other Life Enrichment Assistants.
  15. Demonstrates dependability, competence, accuracy, and observance.
Qualifications
  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. High school diploma/GED or demonstrated proficiency in reading and writing skills.
  3. Prior experience in a related role preferred.
  4. Prior experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
  5. Proficient in computer and related technology use required.
