PACE Southeast Michgan is seeking a Life Enrichment Assistant to support a Life Enrichment Therapist in delivering meaningful day center activities for participants. You will help design and facilitate diverse activities including arts, crafts, outdoor, exercise, and music, while maintaining a nurturing environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating group and individual programs, escorting participants, and contributing to the monthly activity calendar.

Formación

• Minimum 1 year experience in a social or recreational program in a healthcare setting for the elderly.
• Must possess strong written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in use of computer and technology systems.
• Must be outgoing, energetic, and able to engage participants in leisure activities.
• Education in Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia is a plus.
• Event-planning experience is a plus.
• Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

SUMMARY

The Life Enrichment Assistant assist and work directly with the Life Enrichment Therapist helping participants engage in meaningful day center activities. Activities are not limited but may include arts and crafts, outdoor activities, exercise, music and other special activities/events.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

• Lead and facilitate group and individualized programming and activities for participant that are designed to meet the social, intellectual, physical, and spiritual needs and interest of each participant.
• Assist with escorting participants to activities and community outings.
• Assist in the development of the monthly activities calendar and special events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• At a minimum high school diploma or equivalent exam.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a social or recreational program, of which was full time in an activities/life enrichment program in a healthcare setting for the elderly.
• Activity Assistant Certification is a plus from a recognizing body such as NCCAP, or NAPPCC is plus.
• Must possess effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in the use of computer and technology systems.
• Must be very outgoing, energetic, and able to engage participants in leisure activities.
• Professional conduct, high-achiever, emotionally intelligent/and aware.
• Able to engage with large room volumes.
• Education of Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia is a plus.
• Event-planning experience is a plus.
• Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
