Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a variety of therapeutic recreational groups and individual activities aimed at improving or maintaining participants' cognitive, physical, social, psychosocial, spiritual, and artistic needs.
  • Contribute activity ideas for the monthly planning calendars.
  • Demonstrate programming for educational and culturally competent activities such as exercise, arts and crafts, music, and spirituality.
  • Ensure participant engagement and respect in planning and conducting activities.
  • Foster a sense of community and a warm social atmosphere, treating all participants with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all recreational supplies and notify supervisor of damaged or unsafe equipment.
  • Suggest supplies or equipment beneficial to the activity program.
  • Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team and attend team meetings.
  • Attend individual and family meetings or case conferences as assigned.
  • Report changes in participants' conditions or complaints to the supervisor.
  • Complete work reliably within designated timeframes.
  • Document attendance and participation in activities daily as required.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, co-workers, and external contacts, maintaining a positive team-oriented attitude.
  • Understand and respond to participants' needs within scope of duties.
  • Attend staff and other meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Fallon Health policies and procedures.
  • Complete activity assessments as needed, within regulatory timelines.
Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Licenses/Certifications: Reliable transportation; CPR and Alzheimer's certifications or willingness to obtain them

Experience: At least one year in an activities program serving a frail or elderly population within the last five years, or completion of Fallon Health's training program
