Job summary

Wingate Residences on Blackstone Boulevard in Providence, RI is seeking an Activity Assistant for a full-time role on the 1st shift, including weekends and holidays as scheduled. You will organize and implement programs to meet residents' needs and promote self-esteem in a caring environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma, bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues preferred.
• Ability to relate to and assist elderly residents effectively.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Organize and implement an innovative daily program for residents.
• Lead one-on-ones, small group and large group activities.
• Support and direct independent activity pursuits, both individually and in small groups.
• Communicate changes in residents' condition or behavior to Life Enrichment Director.
• Assist in transportation arrangements and escort residents to activities.
• Attend ongoing in-service training sessions and orientation.

Assisted Living Activity Assistant

The Activity Assistant organizes and implements programs designed to meet the individual needs of our residents. The program is intended to fulfill basic psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs while promoting self-esteem in a caring, nurturing environment. The Activity Assistant supports and assists all necessary programming.

• Assists in the development and implementation of an innovative daily program for residents
• Leads and implements one-on-ones, small group and large group activities according to the programming schedule
• Supports, encourages and directs independent activity pursuits, both individually and in small groups
• Supports the resident's abilities by understanding that all aspects of care can be viewed as an activity
• Demonstrates knowledge about residents in regard to background, participation needs, physical abilities, interests, cognitive capacity and attention span capability
• Communicates any changes in the residents' condition or behavior pattern to Life Enrichment Director
• Assist in the Planning, developing, organizing, and implementation of all residence activities.
• Develop suggestions and ideas for improving and expanding the Activities Program.
• Maintains a professional, warm and caring relationship with residents and families.
• Assist in arranging transportation and escorts for residents to and from outside and community activities.
• Assist with monthly newsletter and/or weekly calendar.
• Attend required on-going in-service training sessions and orientation.
• Driving residents in van as needed.
• Arrange Doctor visits as needed
• Perform dual tasks and work independently.

Job Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma, bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues preferred.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community
• Shows an ability to relate to and perform job functions for the elderly in a positive and efficient manner
• Shows a consistent ability to coordinate multiple tasks, demonstrates a positive attitude, and works well under pres
