Job summary

PACE Southeast Michigan is seeking a Life Enrichment Assistant to support engagement in meaningful activities for elderly participants at the day center. This entry-level role involves facilitating various activities, assisting with outings, and collaborating with the Life Enrichment team. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, relevant experience in a healthcare setting, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in a social or recreational program, preferably in healthcare for the elderly.
  • Certification from NCCAP or NAPPCC is a plus.
  • Physical ability to lift/move 5-10 pounds, walk, and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate group and individual activities for participants.
  • Assist with escorting participants to activities and community outings.
  • Help develop the monthly activities calendar.

Skills

Position Overview: Under the direction of the Life Enrichment Program Manager, the Enrichment Assistant works directly with the Life Enrichment Therapist to help participants engage in meaningful activities at the day center. Activities may include arts and crafts, outdoor activities, exercise, music, and other special events.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate group and individual activities tailored to the social, intellectual, physical, and spiritual needs of participants.
  • Assist with escorting participants to activities and community outings.
  • Help develop the monthly activities calendar and organize special events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a social or recreational program, preferably in a healthcare setting for the elderly. Certification from NCCAP or NAPPCC is a plus.
  • Physical ability to lift/move 5-10 pounds, walk, stand for extended periods, and transport wheelchairs.

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, non-verbal).
  • Proficiency with computers and technology.
  • Outgoing, energetic, and capable of engaging participants.
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia is a plus; event planning experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team.
