Job summary

The Harbor & The Haven in Norwood Young America, MN is seeking a Life Enrichment Assistant to support activities that promote physical, social, spiritual and cognitive well‑being for residents in assisted living and memory care.

This part‑time role (approx 48–56 hours per bi‑weekly period) involves planning, leading activities, coordinating volunteers, and working with the Life Enrichment Director to create calendars and outings, while ensuring safety and dignity for all residents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; recreation therapy or related courses are a plus.
• 1–2 years working with elderly in senior living or recreational settings preferred.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead activities such as games, crafts, fitness classes, educational workshops, and social events tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
• Foster resident engagement by encouraging social interaction, companionship, and a sense of community.
• Help develop and implement activity calendars and coordinate group outings with the Life Enrichment Director.
• Recruit, direct, and supervise volunteers to support enrichment programs.
• Ensure dignity and individual preferences are reflected in activities; maintain safety and compliance with policies.
• Assist with administrative tasks and participate in team meetings as assigned.

At The Harbor & The Haven, our mission is to redefine what it means to age with joy and dignity. Our community consists of 61 assisted living and 12 memory care apartments. We are located in Norwood Young America, approximately 50 minutes southwest of Minneapolis/St. Paul.

LIFE ENRICHMENT ASSISTANT

The Life Enrichment Assistant assists with planning and implementing activities that provide physical, social, spiritual and cognitive well-being. This position is part-time, working approximately 48 - 56 hours in a bi-weekly pay period. Anticipated schedule will be 9:00am - 3:30pm Monday, Tuesday (every other), Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday (every other).

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead activities such as games, crafts, fitness classes, educational workshops, and social events tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
• Support resident engagement by fostering social interaction, companionship, and a sense of community.
• Assist the Life Enrichment Director in developing and implementing activity programs, including creating calendars and coordinating group outings.
• Recruit, direct, and supervise volunteers to support life enrichment programs.
• Ensure resident dignity and individuality by incorporating personal preferences and life stories into activities.
• Maintain compliance with facility policies, safety standards, and state/federal regulations, including reporting any complaints or incidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including administrative tasks and participation in team meetings.

Qualifications
