Job Description: Claims Examiner

Profile Summary

Examines and investigates disability, life and annuity claims, within a limited approval authority. Claim handling may include contestable death, accelerated death benefit, waiver of premium, unclaimed property, and critical illness claims. Additional responsibilities may include managing domestic investigations and interpreting medical records and laboratory/autopsy reports. Researches, reviews and advises on topics such as beneficiary designations, absolute assignments, Uniform Probate Codes, Estate documents such as Administrators/Executors, Guardianship of minors, Small Estate Affidavits, Divorce Statutes, Consent to Transfer, etc. Conducts coverage analysis.

Profile Description

  • New Claim set up and correspondence.
  • Generate internal and external customer correspondence.
  • Monitor claims within workflow system
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships.
  • Problem solving in a team environment.
  • Maintains records, files, and databases of claims.
  • Provides stakeholders with information and training regarding claims.
  • May assign less-complex claims to entry-level or trainee examiners.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

Knowledge & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain contract language and Claims procedure to agents and beneficiaries.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a workflow environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

In addition to salary, Resolution Life US offers a comprehensive benefits package, including our health & wellness program, incentive and recognition programs, and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The range for the role may differ based on the location.

  • Des Moines IA- $42,100- $51,500
  • Seattle, WA- $50,500 $61,800
