Job description

The Group Benefits Life Claims team is looking for a customer-focused, forward-thinking individual with strong decision-making abilities to join the team as Group Life Claims Assessor. Reporting to the Associate Manager, Life Claims, you will be responsible for the overall review, assessment, calculation and final decision on Group Life, AD&D, Survivor Income claims, as well as Compassionate Assistance Program Loans.Your ability to demonstrate empathy for grieving families, while maintaining a level of professionalism and customer focus is a must in this role.Responsibilities :Review of plan member or dependent coverage and eligibilityConfirmation of the contract provisions in effect for each claimVerification of enrolment and beneficiary informationReview of proof of death (loss) documentsReview of supporting medical\\police\\investigative reportsCalculation of eligible benefitPreparation of claims system records, vital to record and pay the claim.Communicate decisions to claimants or beneficiaries, and group clientsAssist plan sponsors with queries regarding beneficiary appointments on enrolment, and requirements for submission of claimProvide support to beneficiaries/family members in acquiring necessary documentation.Qualifications:Experience in the insurance industry, preferably in Group Benefits and Life/Disability claims.Knowledge of medical terminology and contract interpretation.Strong communication, judgment, analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.Ability to demonstrate empathy and provide exceptional client service.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel).Proven ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively.Adaptable, risk-aware, and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
