Job summary

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a LiDAR/UAV Scientist in a hybrid role based in Centralia, WA, with opportunities to work from other U.S. locations. You will lead LiDAR data acquisition, processing, and analysis to support Timberlands decisions, and collaborate with multiple teams on advanced remote sensing applications.

The role requires MSc/PhD with GIS/RS focus, ML/CV knowledge, and UAV data collection experience. Proficiency in Python/R and ArcGIS/QGIS is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Education: MSc or PhD in forestry, geomatics or natural resources with GIS/RS emphasis.
• Experience with ML, CV, and remote sensing algorithms.
• UAV data collection experience and Part 107 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in acquisition and management of LiDAR, aerial imagery, and UAS data.
• Generate, process, and maintain remote sensing datasets and LiDAR products.
• Design decision-support tools using multi-temporal data and analytics.
• Develop image and signal processing code for feature extraction and ML.
• Support training on UAS, LiDAR, and remote sensing strategies.
• Prepare reports and present findings to stakeholders.
