Job description

Position Overview

Bowman is hiring a LiDAR Analyst in Chesterfield, MO. The analyst will be directly involved in the production of LiDAR data—including point cloud processing, classification, reporting standards, feature extraction, and calibration—to ensure packages meet or exceed client expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Data Processing and Management: Process, ingest, catalog field‑collected data and manage LAS files.
  • Trajectory Processing: Perform trajectory processing for airborne LiDAR missions.
  • Project Setup: Integrate boundaries, tile indexing, and macro catalogs.
  • Quality Control: Initiate Level 1 QC routines and review all data for integrity.
  • Project Adjustments: Perform relative and absolute adjustments for spatial accuracy.
  • Classification: Edit and clean base LAS files to produce fully classified LAS files.
  • Quality Measures: Implement accuracy checks and classification validations.
  • Technical Operations: Create and modify macros to improve efficiency.
  • Sensor Calibration: Generate instrument files for proper sensor calibration.
  • Client Support: Provide technical insights to Project Management for client relations.
  • Hydrological Feature Extraction: Extract hydrological features from LAS files.
  • Troubleshooting: Resolve automation issues and create support tickets.
  • Compliance: Ensure work meets quality standards for client acceptance.
  • ISO Work Instructions: Review and propose revisions to ISO procedures.
  • Peer Review: Conduct reviews and give feedback to technicians.
  • Problem Solving: Identify alternative solutions for complex problems.
  • Status Reporting: Maintain up‑to‑date project status reports.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Remote Sensing, Earth Sciences, or related field.
  • 3+ years of airborne LiDAR production, classification, and editing.
  • Proficiency with PosPac and other airborne processing software.
  • Experience with TerraSolid and Microstation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Analytical problem‑solving and solution recommendations.
  • Detail orientation and commitment to quality.
  • Technical staff training experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Adaptable to changing schedules and priorities.
  • Preferred: 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with GeoCue, LasTools, and ArcGIS.
