Working Title: LICENSING SPECIALIST - CHILD CARE - 60073205

This position is a part-time position of 20 hours a week. The days can be flexible.

The responsibilities include:

  1. Mentoring and coaching providers, casework, and administrative activities in Child Care Licensing, including inspecting child care homes and facilities to monitor compliance with Florida statutes, administrative codes, and licensing standards.
  2. Processing initial and renewal applications, including background screenings and training, determining eligibility, and recommending licensure.
  3. Investigating complaints on licensed providers and illegal childcare operations, preparing reports, and initiating administrative actions as required.
  4. Maintaining provider database records, archiving inspections, and monitoring data accuracy.
  5. Developing professional knowledge of applicable statutes, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and community resources.
  6. Providing technical assistance to childcare providers to promote compliance and ensure corrective actions are met.
  7. Utilizing program hardware, software, system applications, and web pages proficiently.
  8. Managing disciplinary and administrative processes, including timely notifications and accurate record-keeping.
  9. Responding to inquiries from the public, parents, agencies, and providers, providing accurate information, and consulting with stakeholders.
  10. Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include understanding child protection, family support, counseling techniques, child development, and community resource organization. Skills in considering child indicators of abuse, conducting investigations, assessments, and developing plans are essential. Ability to plan, organize, communicate effectively, maintain case files, and establish working relationships is also required. Proficiency in computer systems and data tracking is necessary.

Licensure/registration/certification requirements: Must maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license and have daily access to a personal vehicle.
