Job summary

EnVogue International in New York seeks a Director of Licensing to lead licensing strategy, partnerships, and business development. You will build relationships with licensors and brand partners, negotiate licensing agreements, identify new opportunities, and expand the portfolio across categories.

The ideal candidate is well-connected within the licensing industry, commercially minded, and has a strong understanding of consumer, retail, and cultural trends.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Licensing, Brand Partnerships, Business Development, or related field
• Established relationships within licensing, brand, and agency communities
• Proven experience sourcing, negotiating, and closing licensing agreements and partnerships
• Strong understanding of licensing contracts, deal structures, royalties, guarantees, category rights, renewals, and negotiations
• Ability to identify whitespace opportunities and develop new business

Responsibilities

• Lead relationships with licensors, licensing agencies, brand owners, and key industry partners.
• Identify and pursue new licensing partnerships leveraging existing relationships and new connections.
• Lead licensing negotiations, including deal terms, contracts, renewals, category rights, royalties, guarantees, and other terms.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders throughout contract development, negotiation, and execution.
• Identify whitespace opportunities, new categories, brand extensions, and untapped opportunities within existing partnerships.
• Drive business development to expand EnVogue’s licensing portfolio and establish relationships with relevant brands and properties.
• Stay connected to consumer, retail, cultural, and licensing trends to identify brands with market potential.
• Evaluate prospective licenses based on brand relevance, commercial potential, category fit, and retail opportunity.
• Collaborate with Sales, Design, Merchandising, and Product Development to create licensing strategies and product opportunities.
• Maintain strong ongoing relationships with existing partners and explore opportunities to expand those partnerships.
• Represent EnVogue at licensing events, industry meetings, networking opportunities, and partner presentations.

About the Role

As Director of Licensing, you will lead EnVogue’s licensing strategy, partnerships, and business development efforts. You will be responsible for building and strengthening relationships with licensors and brand partners, negotiating licensing agreements, identifying new opportunities, and expanding our portfolio across brands and product categories. The ideal candidate is highly connected within the licensing industry, commercially minded, and has a strong understanding of consumer, retail, and cultural trends.

What You'll Do

• Lead relationships with licensors, licensing agencies, brand owners, and key industry partners.
• Identify and pursue new licensing partnerships, leveraging existing industry relationships and developing new connections.
• Lead licensing negotiations, including deal terms, contracts, renewals, category rights, royalties, guarantees, and other key business terms.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders throughout contract development, negotiation, and execution.
• Identify whitespace opportunities, new categories, brand extensions, and untapped opportunities within existing partnerships.
• Drive business development efforts to expand EnVogue’s licensing portfolio and establish relationships with relevant brands and properties.
• Stay closely connected to consumer, retail, cultural, and licensing trends to identify brands and opportunities with strong market potential.
• Evaluate prospective licenses based on brand relevance, commercial potential, category fit, and retail opportunity.
• Partner with Sales, Design, Merchandising, and Product Development to develop commercially relevant licensing strategies and product opportunities.
• Maintain strong ongoing relationships with existing partners while identifying opportunities to expand and strengthen those partnerships.
• Represent EnVogue at licensing events, industry meetings, networking opportunities, and partner presentations.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the licensing team and oversee the execution of licensed programs.

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of experience in Licensing, Brand Partnerships, Business Development, or a related field, preferably within consumer products, home décor, fashion, or retail.
• Established relationships and existing contacts within the licensing, brand, and agency community.
• Proven experience sourcing, negotiating, and closing licensing agreements and partnerships.
• Strong understanding of licensing contracts, deal structures, royalties, guarantees, category rights, renewals, and negotiations.
• Demonstrated ability to identify whitespace opportunities and develop new business.
• Strong understanding of consumer behavior, retail trends, emerging brands, and cultural trends.
• Excellent negotiation, relationship-building, networking, presentation, and communication skills.
• Commercially minded, entrepreneurial, and proactive with the ability to turn relationships and market insights into business opportunities.
