Job summary

West Texas VA Health Care System is seeking an licensed practical nurse (LVN/LPN) to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care and positive customer service for Veterans.

The LVN will work under the Community Living Center Nurse Manager within Extended Care Nursing Service, conducting focused assessments, administering medications, and collaborating with RNs and MDs to ensure optimal patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the State agency and/or NLNAC accreditation at time program completed.
• Licensure as LPN/LVN in US state or territory must be active and unrestricted.
• English language proficiency for direct patient care as required by VA standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs focused nursing assessments and reports abnormal findings to RN Charge Nurse.
• Administers medications and documents nursing actions as required by policy.
• Supervises and directs Nursing Assistants within scope of practice when acting as Charge Nurse.
• Provides patient and family education and supports care coordination with RN/MD.
