Texas Children's is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced setting. You will gather patient data, assess needs, and collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver age-appropriate care.

Responsibilities include collecting data, vital signs, preparing patients for exams, assisting with treatments, administering medications, and documenting in the electronic health record. BLS and TX LVN licensure are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Diploma/certificate from a school of vocational nursing or TX Board of Nursing exception.
• LVN license in the State of Texas required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.

Responsabilités

• Collect patient and family data per practice protocol (biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, environmental).
• Collect and document vital signs, BMI, height, weight, and visit rationale with accuracy; note prior care locations.
• Prepare patients for examinations per practice protocol.
• Assist providers during treatments, examinations, and testing within scope of practice.
• Complete treatments as directed by the provider within scope of practice.
• Document all interventions per practice protocol.
• Administer medications and immunizations per protocol; document in the EHR.
• Provide patient and family education as instructed; document in the EHR.
• Verify payer coverage and patient eligibility before referrals.
• Collect specimens and perform laboratory tests.
• Verify provider orders and patient identity per protocol.
• Demonstrate SMILES and AIDET in interactions with patients and staff.
• Performance evaluated via observer feedback and EHR review.
• Undergo respiratory fit testing per occupational health standards.

As a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), you'll gather patient information, assess patients, and provide direct care in a fast-paced setting. You'll collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to provide age-appropriate care.

• Collect patient and family data, including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information, per practice protocol
• Collect and document vital signs, BMI, height, weight, and the reason for the visit with 100% accuracy. Update documentation to indicate whether the patient has received care at another location since their last visit
• Prepare patients for examinations per practice protocol
• Assist the provider during treatments, examinations, and testing as directed and within your scope of practice
• Complete treatments as directed by the provider and within your scope of practice.
• Document all interventions per practice protocol
• Administer medications and immunizations as directed by the provider and per practice protocol. Document administration in the electronic health record
• Provide patient and family education as instructed by the provider or practice protocol Document the education in the electronic health record
• Verify coverage with the payer to assess the patient's eligibility before initiating a referral
• Collect specimens and perform laboratory tests
• Verify provider orders and patient identity per practice protocol
• Demonstrate Creating SMILES and AIDET philosophies when interacting with patients, families, and coworkers
• Performance is evaluated through evaluator observation, provider feedback, and review of the electronic health record
• As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards

• High school diploma or GED required
• Diploma or certificate from a school of vocational nursing required, OR documentation from the Texas Board of Nursing verifying an exception to the vocational nursing diploma requirement
• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the State of Texas required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
