Primary Purpose
Responsible for providing total nursing care for assigned patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to ensure quality care.
Minimum Specifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing school and/or licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing as an LVN, or hold a valid Compact LVN License.
Experience
Certification/Registration/Licensure
- Current, valid LVN license or temporary LVN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or a valid Compact LVN license.
- Current healthcare provider CPR certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
Skills or Special Abilities
- Provide care according to Texas Nurse Practice Act, protocols, care plans, and standards.
- Effective communication with staff, management, patients, and families.
- Demonstrate patient-centered behaviors and nursing skills.
Responsibilities
- Screen and prioritize patients, ensuring timely treatment per physician orders and policies.
- Assist with patient flow, treatments, and discharge activities.
- Maintain compliance with regulations, policies, and standards.
- Educate patients and families, reinforce teaching, and participate in community outreach as assigned.
- Precept and supervise new employees and students.
- Complete documentation accurately and timely.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure quality patient care and workflow.
- Ensure supplies are available, assist with stock management, and maintain a clean environment.
- Suggest process improvements and support departmental goals.
- Stay updated with nursing trends and maintain licensure.
- Arrange patient appointments and referrals as needed.
- Assist with patient transport as required.
