A UHC LVN shows excellent customer service skills using genuine warmth with patients and has the ability to make them feel comfortable in the health center while providing effective and technically competent nursing assistance to both patients and UHC providers. The LVN assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. This position is a crucial part of the service delivery team responsible to ensure quality of care, patient flow and compliance with regulations within the scope of their respective nursing license. Primary tasks are to assist the Health Center Manager at the site. LVN's may be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Finally, the LVN position provides or facilitates the provision of information needed by both patients and clinicians. Furthermore, they ensure a smooth and well-connected patient flow. The LVN reports to the Health Center Manager.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Works closely with the Health Center Manager and other members of the clinic management team to

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Operations will provide support for a region of health centers clinical staff.
  • Supports the quality improvement and compliance goals of the health center by ensuring that UHC meets required regulations.
  • Communicates with appropriate personnel as necessary, to examine, revise and evaluate clinic processes to promote efficiency
  • Train provider and nursing staff as needed regarding procedures, forms, and procedural changes, etc.
  • Ensures health center is properly stocked with appropriate level of supplies, vaccines, equipment and medication.
  • Consistently and openly communicates with the Health Center Manager and all staff.
  • Works flexible or extended hours where necessary.
  • Must be able to travel.
PERFORMANCE AREA 1 Nursing Duties
  • Supports patient access by providing telephone advice regarding care per health center protocol.
  • Supports the efforts of the providers by supervising the functions in treatment room and is primary in this regard
  • Supports patient care by administering medication and treatment ordered by physicians and/or provider staff.
  • Train clinical staff at the health center on clinical workflows as needed.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels for clinical supplies, equipment, vaccines and medication.
PERFORMANCE AREA 2 Focus on Patients
  • Helps ensure that exam rooms are organized and set up appropriately for each patient exam.
  • Performs specimen collection, preparation and maintains required logs as needed.
  • Performs EKG's, accu-checks, and other diagnostic procedures according to guidelines as needed.
  • Supports the patient experience by taking initiative to keep patient informed of upcoming procedures and requirements, facilitates patient focus, involvement, and cooperation.
  • Provides patients with required educational materials including; vaccine information statements, informs patients of content and answers any questions.
PERFORMANCE AREA 3 General Corporate Expectations
  • Attends and actively participates in all meetings (e.g., department meetings, program meetings, employee staff meetings) and other activities as required or assigned.
  • Attends workshops/seminars as necessary to increase skills and knowledge to provide effective care, treatment, and/or leadership.
  • Supports the overall needs of the health center by working flexible or extended hours when necessary.
  • Supports the needs of the health center by traveling to other UHC clinics when staffing needs dictate the need for personnel.
  • Demonstrates awareness of, and compliance with, organizational mission and objective of UHC to provide health care access and support services for all members of the community.
  • Supports their own staff development by completing the required hours of continuing education each year.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor. Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally either verbally or in writing.
  • Maintains confidentiality and respect for information regarding patients and other team members; abides by UHC Rules of Confidentiality and general HIPAA regulations regarding privacy.
  • Displays a positive, professional and respectful demeanor at all times toward employees, peers, professional contacts, and patients served, maintaining a professional appearance and positive image for the health centers.
  • Contributes to the team by promoting positive staff interaction, maintains open communication with other programs/departments.
EDUCATION
  • Completed LVN training program from and accredited school.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
  • Valid LVN License
  • Possess a valid Driver's License
  • Possess a valid Lifesaving Certification
PRIOR EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 1 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an ambulatory care setting

  • Bilingual Preferred but not required

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels).
  • Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to patients and staff.
  • Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.
  • Must have high manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn.

The pay range for this Exempt position starts at $73,696.94 a year. Our salaries are dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
