Position Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Psychiatric Technician - Residential

Department: Nursing

Reports To: Director of Nursing Services and Program Director

*This Position is for Nights between the hours of 7:30PM - 8:00AM*

POSITION SUMMARY

The LVN/LPT is primarily responsible for providing direct patient care services. Job duties include medication management, medication administration, counseling and health maintenance. Evaluates patient needs and assists in implementing plans to meet those needs, aids in formulation of the treatment plan, monitors patient’s medication intake and treatments, as directed, assists in maintaining and ordering adequate medical supplies, charts into the medical/legal records, reports and records observations that reflect the nursing care given and the patient’s progress, educates patients on the medical aspects of treatment, interviews, screens and performs health assessments per established protocols, monitors and reports any significant changes in patients condition or behavior to the Director of Nursing or the Program Director as appropriate.

This position requires providing service to one or more age populations including adolescents and geriatric patients in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. In addition, nurses shall have the ability to assess, treat, and appropriately interact and care for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Tarzana Treatment Centers, Inc. (TTC). It is expected that the employee demonstrates behavior consistent with the agency’s core values. The employee shall support Tarzana Treatment Center’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).

SALARY RANGE

$31 - $45 / per hour DOE

CATEGORIES OF DUTIES
  • Plans and delivers nursing assessments and interventions, related to medical and psychiatric diagnoses of the patient.
  • Administers Medications per the treating provider orders and assesses effectiveness, and monitors for side effects.
  • Completes pre-admission triage and determines medical/nursing appropriateness of admission.
  • Monitors patient’s medication intake consistent with medication policies, practices and standards.
  • Communicates significant changes in patient’s condition in a timely manner.
  • Documents in patient’s chart nursing goals, interventions and clinical outcomes.
  • Functions as an active member of the treatment care planning team.
  • Responds to medical emergency situations.
  • Competently uses equipment necessary for the delivery of patient care including but not limited to: glucometer, AED, bag/mask, oxygen.
  • Provide Blood Draws (lab draws) as per treating provider orders (additional certification for Blood Draws required for this duty, but not required for the position).
  • Attends trainings as required for the position.
  • Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned by the Director of Nursing or the Program Director.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited LVN or LPT school or college and licensed to practice in California. Two (2) years recent acute care experience preferred; a Behavioral/Chemical Dependency Setting- required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
