Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for meeting the needs of our residents and supervising CNAs / Nurses Aids to ensure quality resident care.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Provide quality customer service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers, and vendors to ensure satisfaction.
- Arrive on time, in proper, clean uniform with good personal hygiene and a visible nametag.
- Coordinate and perform resident assessments and plan of care evaluations when appropriate.
- Administer treatments, medications, or other nursing interventions as indicated by the patient's plan of care or as ordered by the physician.
- Follow all emergency procedures per facility policy and nursing standards.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and medications to meet resident needs.
- Protect all patient/resident rights.
- Maintain documentation as required by federal and state regulations and company policy.
- Perform duties safely and efficiently, using equipment correctly and following safety protocols. Wear safety equipment as required and report hazards or accidents.
- Adhere to cleanliness standards and all relevant policies, health codes, and guidelines in food handling.
- Attend all mandatory in-service meetings and comply with policies and procedures.
- Greet residents, personnel, vendors, and families professionally.
- Answer calls and respond to the emergency call system promptly.
- Schedule in-house doctor appointments, lab work, and transportation requests.
- Order and manage inventory for prescriptions, treatment supplies, and office needs.
- Chart and maintain medical records securely.
- Monitor fire alarms and coordinate emergency dispatch when necessary.
- Perform clerical duties to ensure the smooth operation of the area.
- Follow safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries for all individuals on site.
Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential: Licensed Vocational Nurse - California
Competencies and Skills:
- Ability to understand, follow, support, and implement facility policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.
Education with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential: Completion of a 2-year college or technical school program.
Experience with Equivalent Qualifications:
- Essential: No prior experience required but knowledge of state and federal regulations is necessary.
- Nonessential: Experience in long-term care, geriatrics, or rehabilitative nursing is a plus.
