The position includes directing daily nursing operations, updating procedures, planning shifts and services, and coordinating with other departments to ensure comprehensive resident care.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
• Review and update department policies, procedures, manuals and job descriptions as needed.
• Plan shifts, services, programs and activities with assigned nursing staff and support personnel.
• Ensure Nursing Service Procedures Manual is current and followed by nursing staff.
• Prepare reports and recommendations on shift activities for leadership.
• Coordinate with resident services to ensure integrated care for residents.
• Ensure staff comply with job descriptions and participate in quality assurance activities.
• Participate in facility surveys by government agencies as required.
• Assist in discharge planning and resident planning activities as necessary.
• Interpret policies to residents, visitors and agencies as required.
• Admit, transfer and discharge residents as required.
• Complete accident/incident reports and maintain documentation.
