New Directions For Women Inc in the United States seeks a licensed vocational nurse to provide care within the detox program, performing vitals, assessments, and medication observation.

You will coordinate admissions/discharges, communicate with families and outside providers, and ensure infection control and safety protocols are followed.

Must maintain California LVN licensure, CPR/First Aid, and be able to work independently with diverse clients; training and probation checks are required.

Responsabilidades

• Engage clients and ensure their safety at all times.
• Assist with admission and discharge processes and conduct nursing assessments.
• Provide medical care within LVN scope; monitor vitals and withdrawal symptoms (CIWA & COWS).
• Communicate with families, clients and outside healthcare providers as needed.
• Document all findings in the electronic medical record and medication observations.
• Adhere to CPR/First Aid and infection control guidelines; respond to emergencies.
• Perform blood draws and injectable medication per policy; follow documentation.
• Complete required forms and incident/shift reports; assist with education groups.

Key Areas of Responsibility:Engagement of ClientsResponsible for ensuring the safety of the clients at all times.Responsible for assisting with the admission and discharge process when needed, including the completion of nursing assessmentsPrioritization of the needs of the clientsProvides medical care within the scope of LVN practice.Able to deal effectively with families, clients and community.Timely response to client’s suggestions and concerns.MedicalResponsible for obtaining vitals and assessing withdrawal symptoms utilizing CIWA & COWS scales, and documenting all findings in the electronic medical record.Responsible for monitoring the health status of each client, especially during detox, to determine whether the health status may warrant emergency medical care.Responsible for assisting with communicating with outside healthcare providers, consultants, pharmacies or labs.Responsible for Medication Observation as per the Medication policies and procedures.Responsible for ensuring accurate electronic documentation of Medication Observation as well as any other pertinent information (i.e., Medical, behavioral observations).Responsible for acting in accordance with CPR and First Aid Training in the event of a medical emergency, including following all NDFW protocols.Responsible for adhering to all infection control precaution guidelines.Responsible for following the procedure for Blood Draws and administration of injectable medication per NDFW policies and procedures.OtherResponsible for completing and filing required form or documentation (i.e., Observation Checks, Shift Report, Incident Reports, Work Orders, Etc.)Assist with other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.Provides health education/training via groups to clients and one-on-one education when necessary.Ability to assume the care coordinator role only when directed by supervisor.Skills/ Special Requirements:Must pass a fitness for duty physical at time of employmentMust possess current California driver’s license or Identification Card without restriction through our insurance carrierCurrently certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse per state regulations and must maintain licensure while employed.Clear Probation Check with Orange County Probation prior to employment starting.Must possess or obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications in allotted timeframe.Must have sensitivity to and ability to embrace individuals of different genders, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, physical abilities and those with diverse cultural backgrounds.Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstance warrants such action.Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.TB test to be conducted yearly or verified by a physician.
