Job summary

Healthcare Staffing Professionals is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse to work in a state hospital in Carlsbad, TX. The LVN will float to different units, provide medications and treatments, and document observations as part of a dynamic healthcare team.

The role requires an active LVN license, strong communication skills, and comfort with Electronic Health Records. Schedule includes evening shifts with rotating weekends, 40 hours per week, and no overtime unless required by the facility.

Job description

Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Licensed Vocational Nurse to work in a state hospital located in Carlsbad, TX. We are looking for strong nurses that are fast learners and able to adapt quickly to changes as they will be floating to different units on campus.

Pay Rate: $40.10/hr

Location: Carlsbad, TX

Schedule:

• 4p-12a x 5 days a week with every 3 rd weekend off.
• 40-hours/week - no OT
• Rotating Schedule

Job Duties:

• Administers medications and treatments orally, rectally, internally, or by injection.
• Performs technical Nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations after demonstration for competency
• Documents and reports pertinent observations.
• Communicates orally and in writing to other team members' pertinent information. Documents according to facility policy.
• Responds to emergency situations to ensure safety of individuals. Follows safety and Infection Control Procedures of facility.
• Monitors individuals for treatments and procedures.
• Collects specimens for laboratory examination and conducts appropriate screening tests (after competency is documented) when requested by lab personnel.
• Provides education to individuals with specific health goals.
• LVN II assists other staff in turning/repositioning individuals to administer treatments.
• Ensures that supplies are available.
• Manages individual's medical record in Electronic Health Record or paper chart.
• Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Must possess valid LVN license
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated computer & electronic health record skills preferred.
• Experience with IDD and psych preferred.
• Basic Life: $25,000 (100% employer paid)
• Basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) : $25,000 (100% employer paid)
