Qualifications

  • Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • California State License as a LMFT or LCSW.
  • Current, unrestricted clinical license appropriate to practice independently.
  • Experience providing psychotherapy/behavioral health services to children, adolescents, or families.
  • Training and demonstrated experience in CBT or other evidence‑based approaches.
  • Experience providing services through telehealth/virtual platforms.
  • Experience facilitating groups or parent education groups.
  • Strong communication, clinical assessment, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently within an interdisciplinary team.

Job Description: Ohana Virtual Therapist – Parent & Child Mental Health Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and culturally responsive Virtual Therapist to provide accessible behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and their parents/caregivers through a virtual care model.

The therapist will provide parent guidance, facilitate parent support groups, and deliver brief, evidence-based individual therapy, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

This role is ideal for a clinician who enjoys working collaboratively with families and is comfortable delivering high-quality mental health services through telehealth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide virtual mental health services to children, adolescents, and/or parents/caregivers.
  • Conduct brief, focused therapy using evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
  • Provide parent guidance and psychoeducation to help caregivers understand and respond to behavioral, emotional, and developmental concerns.
  • Facilitate virtual parent support/education groups, including group discussions, skills training, and psychoeducation.
  • Help parents develop practical strategies related to emotional regulation, behavior management, communication, coping skills, and family functioning.
  • Assess presenting concerns and develop individualized treatment goals and brief intervention plans.
  • Deliver culturally responsive, trauma-informed, family-centered care.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, primary care providers, schools, and other members of the care team as appropriate.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust interventions based on clinical needs and response to treatment.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality, and telehealth standards.
  • Identify and appropriately respond to safety concerns, including assessing risk and following established escalation and crisis protocols.
  • Participate in clinical consultation, supervision, team meetings, and quality‑improvement activities.

The Virtual Therapist will primarily provide:

  • Parent Guidance: Individualized coaching and psychoeducation for parents and caregivers.
  • Parent Groups: Virtual groups focused on parenting skills, behavioral health education, coping strategies, and peer support.
  • Brief Therapy: Short‑term, goal‑oriented behavioral health interventions.
  • CBT: Evidence‑based CBT interventions tailored to the developmental level and needs of the client and family.
  • Virtual Access: Convenient, high‑quality behavioral health services delivered through a secure telehealth platform.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or doctoral degree in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy

  • Experience providing psychotherapy and/or behavioral health services to children, adolescents, parents, or families preferred.

  • Experience providing services through telehealth/virtual platforms preferred.
  • Experience facilitating groups or parent education groups preferred.
  • Strong communication, clinical assessment, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and developmental backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.

  • Strong family‑centered and strengths‑based clinical approach.
  • Ability to translate clinical concepts into practical strategies that parents can use at home.
  • Comfortable engaging clients and families virtually.
  • Experience with brief interventions and time‑limited treatment models.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent behavioral health.
  • Experience with parent coaching, behavioral management strategies, or family therapy.
  • Strong group facilitation skills.

Position Summary

The Virtual Therapist will play an important role in expanding access to behavioral health care by providing parent guidance, virtual parent groups, brief therapy, and CBT‑based interventions. The successful candidate will be an empathetic and clinically skilled therapist who can build strong therapeutic relationships virtually and help families develop practical skills that support emotional and behavioral well‑being. Live Scan fingerprint clearance required by the Department of Healthcare Services is a job requirement.

Assigned Work Hours

Assigned Work Hours: Five 8 hour shifts during open business hours: Monday through Friday 8am-7pm, Friday and Saturday 8am-5pm. We expect clinicians to work at least two evening shifts per week (10:30-7pm) for access to care.

Position Type: Regular

Pay Range (based on years of applicable experience): $55.36 to $74.04

The hours employees work determine when a shift differential is paid.

Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $4.03 Hourly Night Shift Differential: $6.05
