Job summary

Ballston Animal Hospital is seeking a licensed veterinary technician to join the team. The LVT will support veterinarians in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and patient care, with a focus on dentistry and high-quality nursing.

The anticipated schedule is four 10-hour days, offering a collaborative, compassionate environment for pets and clients. Responsibilities include assisting with exams, procedures, sample collection, radiographs, and client education, while upholding safety and professional

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician certification required in state of employment.
• Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds; assist for heavier lifts.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office applications.
• Basic math to calculate medication dosages.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in veterinary medicine and surgery; provide support as needed.
• Assist in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs and weights; educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during surgery.
• Obtain blood, stool and other samples; perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take, develop and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines and treatments per veterinarian instructions.
• Clean and straighten exam rooms, treatment and lab areas; restock supplies; keep public areas clean; maintain equipment.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all client interactions and patient care.
• Communicate with veterinarians and practice team members about client discussions and patient plans.
• Any other duties as assigned.
