Position Overview

This role involves assisting in veterinary medicine and surgery, performing medically related procedures under supervision, and caring for all pets in the hospital. Providing excellent customer service to clients is essential. The goal is to enhance the quality of care and improve hospital efficiency and productivity.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding their pets.
  • Discuss treatment plans and document them accurately.
  • Manage medical records using practice management software.
  • Ensure client compliance and educate pet owners.
  • Assist in surgical procedures, including pre-anesthetic protocols, anesthesia monitoring, and post-operative care.
  • Dispense medications, perform x-rays, blood draws, catheterizations, sample collections, treatments, diagnostic tests, nursing care, vaccinations, and animal restraint.
  • Set up, clean, and maintain medical equipment.
  • Engage with clients and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain cleanliness of hospital areas.
  • Assist with kennel and client service functions as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion and empathy for pets, clients, and staff.
  • Proficiency in veterinary technician skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Educational and experience requirements: Preferably, Licensed Veterinary Technicians with an associate degree and passing the national exam.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Stand for long periods, walk, sit, squat, push, pull, and perform technical and administrative tasks with hands and fingers.
  • Extended periods of computer use and reading.
