Job summary

Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our medical team. You will assist in the provision of medical and surgical care for shelter animals, manage treatment plans, and help with diagnostics and anesthesia under veterinary direction.

Applicants must hold NYS licensure, have an associate or bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology, and be able to lift 50 lbs. ACC offers comprehensive benefits and ongoing training in a fast-paced, compassionate environment.

Qualifications

• Associates or bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology (or NYS-recognized foreign equivalent).
• Lication NYS to practice veterinary technology is required.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and stand for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

• Administer drugs and vaccines as directed by the staff veterinarian.
• Perform LVT examinations in SOAP format as needed.
• Handle, restrain and triage all animals entering shelter.
• Assist in all aspects of surgery and anesthesia management.
• Document medical findings and treatments in Shelter Buddy records.
