Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Monterey, CA is hiring a Relief Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our ER Team. Pay ranges from $25.63 to $49.19 per hour, with Kahuna leveling and shift differentials for nights and weekends.

You will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform radiography, place IV catheters and assist critically ill or injured pets, while mentoring teammates and expanding your veterinary skills.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed veterinary technician.
• Experience in emergency veterinary care is preferred.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and provide critical care.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia using appropriate equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vital signs.
• Perform digital radiography and interpret basic results.
• Place IV catheters and perform phlebotomy.
• Administer medications and support CPR when needed.
• Mentor and train other team members.

BluePearl Pet Hospitalis hiring an exceptionalRelief Licensed VeterinaryTechnicianto join our ER Team in Monterey, CA!

Pay: $25.63 - $49.19 / hr.

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $5.50 Shift Differential

Schedule: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 3pm-1:30am

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce,monitorand recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperatureheart rate, respiratoryrateand blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heartand respiratory rate, temperature, bloodpressureand oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identifypatients at riskforarrest and initiateCPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routesand duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place andmaintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
