Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Paramus, NJ, is hiring an experienced Credentialed Veterinary Technician to work overnight shifts in our Emergency + Critical Care department.

Position Details:

1. Eligible for a sign-on bonus.
2. Shifts: 3 12-hour shifts, including Saturday and Sunday overnights.
3. Pay: $25.25 - $51.00/hour + competitive shift differentials, dependent on experience and advancement through the CareerTrax leveling system. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends, based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 shift differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.50 shift differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $6.00 shift differential

Responsibilities:

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases, obtain vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges of vital signs and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting veterinarians to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math, administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Proficient in phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
