Job summary

Small Door is seeking a licensed veterinary technician (LVT) to join our NYC team. You will triage, assess patients, assist veterinarians, and support diagnostics in a fast-paced, friendly hospital that emphasizes Fear Free care and AAHA accreditation.

Responsibilities include recording vitals, preparing medications, assisting in radiography, running in-house labs, and delivering compassionate care. Weekend availability and strong client communication are essential for success in this

Qualifications

• Valid LVT license in NY or eligibility
• Weekend availability required
• Strong client communication skills and empathy
• Team-oriented with ability to multitask in fast-paced clinic
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with patient handling

Responsibilities

• Triage and assess patients and assist doctors with diagnostics

What you'll do

• Triaging
• Knowledge and ability to recognize medical emergencies and illnesses
• Assessing patients
• Recording vitals and assisting doctors with diagnostics
• Completing treatments as instructed by the doctor
• Basic husbandry and nursing care
• Monitoring changes in patients and providing compassionate care
• Taking blood
• Placing catheters
• Assisting in and facilitating radiography capture
• Preparing samples for outside reference labs
• Running in-house labs
• Preparing medications
• Administering medications
• Additional responsibilities to maintain a hospitable environment

Who you are

• 1+ years of experience as a LVT in a GP setting
• Availability to work weekends (Saturday or Sunday)
• Comfortable with computers and online tools
• Strong enough to lift 50 lbs
• A thoughtful and fearless team player
• A go-getter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
• Skilled at communicating with clients
• Passionate about pets
