Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care and perform procedures within Virginia licensure.
• Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and provide perioperative care.
• Perform venipuncture, IV access, lab work, imaging, and treatments.
• Participate in dentistry including radiographs and tech-level work.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes to the team.
• Educate clients on medications, preventive care, and home care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and collaborate with staff.

Salem Veterinary Hospital is looking for a skilled and motivated Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team in Virginia Beach.

We believe LVTs are an essential part of the medical team, and we are committed to utilizing our licensed technicians for the patient care, nursing, technical, and clinical responsibilities their education and licensure prepared them to perform.

What You'll Do

As an LVT at Salem Veterinary Hospital, you'll have the opportunity to work within your licensure and play an active role in delivering high-quality patient care, including:

• Provide skilled nursing care and perform technical duties within the scope of your Virginia licensure.
• Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and medical procedures.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and provide comprehensive perioperative patient care.
• Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory procedures, diagnostic imaging, and prescribed treatments.
• Take an active role in dentistry, including dental radiographs and appropriate technician-level procedures.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in patient status to the medical team.
• Educate clients regarding medications, preventive care, treatment plans, and at-home care.
• Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
• Collaborate closely with veterinarians, fellow LVTs, assistants, and client service team members.
• Advocate for excellent patient care while helping maintain efficient hospital flow.
