Veterinary Technician – Anesthesia
Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC)
Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota is seeking a skilledVeterinary Technician – Anesthesia to join our Specialty Support Team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented technician who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and is passionate about patient safety and anesthesia excellence.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor and manage anesthesia for stable and critical patients, including multi-species cases
- Maintain accurate anesthetic records and interpret patient vitals
- Prepare, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain anesthesia equipment
- Assist with induction, intubation, injections, local blocks, and epidurals
- Assess pain and support multimodal analgesia plans
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians and specialty teams
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile anesthesia and surgical environment
What We’re Looking For
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT/LVT preferred)
- Strong math skills and comfort with CRIs and drug calculations
- Solid understanding of anesthetic drugs, monitoring, and side effects
- Ability to stay calm and focused in high-stress situations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Qualifications
Physical Requirements
- Ability to always demonstrate a positive attitude
- Ability to life a minimum of 40 pounds from floor to table height
- Excessive walking and standing, frequent squatting
- Able to work at all clinic locations
- Incur risk of injury from animals
- Ability to work well under pressure and high levels of stress
- Exposure to controlled, chemo-therapeutic, teratogenic, and mutagenic drugs
- Exposure to radiation and anesthetic gases
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Two years' client service experience
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- A.A.S or B.S degreein Veterinary Technology, or similar field, and AVMA accredited a plus
- Current certification, license, or registration as a Veterinary Technician a plus
