Job summary

Hope Springs Veterinary in Virginia Beach seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated team and provide high-quality nursing care to patients. You will perform lab work, anesthesia monitoring, dental radiography, diagnostic imaging, and support the care of hospitalized pets. Must hold Veterinary Technician certification and an Associate degree.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate nursing care
• Obtain laboratory samples and process results (fecal/parasite analysis, ear cytology, skin cytology, urinalysis, blood smears)
• Surgery preparation, anesthetic monitoring and recovery
• Perform dental cleanings and dental digital radiography
• Perform diagnostic imaging
• Care for hospitalized patients
• Fill prescriptions and review directions with clients
• Patient restraint
• Communicate with clients on various topics
• Support other team members

Our Licensed Veterinary Technicians have the opportunity to make an impact in the lives of our clients and patients daily.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver compassionate nursing care
• Obtain laboratory sample collection, process and possibly interpret results (fecal/parasite analysis, ear cytology, skin cytology, urinalysis, blood smears)
• Surgery preparation, anesthetic monitoring and recovery
• Perform dental prophies and dental digital radiography
• Perform diagnostic imaging
• Care of hospitalized patients
• Fill prescriptions and review directions with clients
• Patient restraint
• Communicate with clients regarding variety of topics
• Support other members of the team

Skills required:

• Exceptional communication skills for in person and on the phone
• Able to work under pressure and potentially stressful situations while handling multiple tasks
• Attention to detail, excellent record keeping via electronic medical records
• Perform venipuncture for phlebotomy and catheter placement
• Assist veterinarian with appointments along with performing various technical based appointments (i.e. bandage change, anal gland expression)
• Computer skills
• Team-oriented and outgoing attitude
• Self motivated to achieve results and maintain high standards
• Provide outstanding experience for our clients and patients
