The Garden Vet in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our four-doctor practice. The role emphasizes compassionate nursing care, collaboration with veterinarians, and patient advocacy in a fast-paced, client-focused hospital.

Qualifications

• Must be a credentialed Veterinary Technician with active state license
• Minimum 2 years’ professional experience in small animal clinical setting
• Proficient in medical math calculations (drugs, CRIs, conversions)
• Excellent communication skills with clients and team
• Proficient time management; ability to multi-task
• Enthusiastic team player with positive attitude
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and be on feet most of the day

Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate nursing care with skills like catheter placement, venipuncture, radiography, dental radiology
• Support veterinarians to ensure care during preventative, injury and illness visits
• Advocate for patients and educate clients
• Assist with procedures and surgeries including anesthetic induction and monitoring
• Obtain health history and document accurately in EMR
• Mentor and support fellow team members
• Continually advance knowledge and skills

The Garden Vet is an an established four-doctor practice located in the heart of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn (close to Manhattan).Ourpet-friendly neighborhood hasgreat restaurants and shops and is only two blocks from the train and three from the BQE.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional, compassionate nursing care to patients utilizing a variety of technical skills, including diagnostic sample collection, catheter placement, venipuncture, radiography, dental radiology, and prophylactic cleanings
• Support veterinarians to ensure exceptional veterinary care during preventative, injury and illness visits
• Advocate for patients, and educate clients
• Assist with patient procedures and surgeries, including anesthetic induction and monitoring, pre and post operative patient care, surgical suite, instrument, and equipment care
• Obtain health history from clients and ensure documentation is accurate and complete within the electronic medical record
• Willingness to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members
• Constantly advance your knowledgebase and skill set

Skills and Qualifications:

• Must be a credentialed Veterinary Technician with active state license, or student of an accredited Veterinary Technology program
• Minimum 2 years’ professional experience in small animal clinical setting
• Superior technical knowledge and skills
• Proficient in medical math calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, conversions, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills with clients and team members
• Proficient time management, ability to problem solve, learn, and handle multiple tasks
• Enthusiastic team player with a patient, and positive professional attitude
• Must have the ability to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds, and work on feet most of the day
• Must have ability to adjust to changes in the environment and able to handle stress in a calm manner
• Must be a team player, have patience and maintain a positive attitude
• Must be able to anticipate and be detail oriented due to the high level of quality medicine
